Will 35-inch tires fit a TJ Wrangler with a 3-inch lift?
Fitment answer · Updated October 27, 2026
Short answer
Possible, but expect more work. Many TJ owners run 35s on a 3 to 4-inch lift with high-clearance or trimmed flares, bump stops and wheels with low backspacing. Regearing is strongly recommended.

What you usually need
- A 3 to 4-inch lift.
- High-clearance flares or trimming.
- Bump stops, wheels with about 3.75-inch backspacing, and an alignment.
Regearing
35s on a TJ usually need gears around 4.56 or 4.88; stock Dana 35 rear axles are a weak point. Compare ratios in the Tire & Gear Calculator before you buy gears.
