Will 35-inch tires fit a JL Wrangler Sport?

Fitment answer · Updated October 23, 2026

Short answer

Not well on a stock JL Sport. Most Sport and Sahara JLs fit about 33-inch tires from the factory. To run 35s comfortably you typically want around a 2–2.5 inch lift (or more), wheels with the right backspacing, and possibly bump stop changes.

What you usually need

Regearing

Stock JL Sport gearing was designed for smaller tires. With 35s, many owners notice slower acceleration and the transmission hunting for gears, especially with the manual or on hills. Regearing to a lower (numerically higher) ratio restores performance. Use the calculator to compare your current and target ratios.
