Will 33-inch tires fit a Cherokee XJ with a 2-inch lift?
Fitment answer · Updated October 27, 2026
Short answer
Sometimes, but expect trimming. On a 2-inch XJ, 33s usually rub the front fenders and bumper corners at full lock unless you trim. Many owners go to 3 inches for an easier fit.

What you usually need
- Trimming at the front fenders and bumper end caps.
- Wheels with sensible backspacing (about 3.75 to 4.5 inches).
- Bump stop extensions and an alignment.
Regearing
XJs with 3.55 gears feel slow on 33s; 3.73-geared trucks tolerate them better. Compare ratios in the Tire & Gear Calculator before you buy gears.
