Will 33-inch tires fit a YJ Wrangler with a 2-inch lift?
Fitment answer · Updated October 27, 2026
Short answer
Often, with the right wheels. Some YJ owners fit 33s on about 2 inches of lift, but many go to around 4 inches for clearance at full flex. Bump stops and wheel backspacing matter.

What you usually need
- A 2 to 4-inch lift.
- Wheels with about 3.75 to 4.5 inches of backspacing.
- Bump stops and an alignment check.
Regearing
YJs with 3.07 or 3.55 gears feel slow on 33s; many regear to 4.10. Compare ratios in the Tire & Gear Calculator before you buy gears.
