Will 35-inch tires fit a stock JK Wrangler with no lift?

Fitment answer · Updated October 27, 2026

Short answer

Not well. On a completely stock JK, 35s usually rub the fenders and control arms at full lock and when the suspension compresses. Most owners add at least a 2.5-inch lift, wheels with less backspacing and bump stop extensions, or accept fender trimming.

Why 35s rub on a stock JK

The usual fix

Regearing

35s are a big jump on a JK, especially with the earlier 3.8 engine. Many owners regear to around 4.56 or 4.88. Compare ratios in the Tire & Gear Calculator before you buy gears.

FAQ

Can I fit 35s on a stock JK if I trim the fenders?

Some owners do with heavy trimming or flat fenders plus bump stops, but most find a small lift the easier route.

What is the biggest tire on a stock JK?

Many JKs run 33-inch tires on stock suspension with possible light rubbing. See 33s on a stock JK.

Is a leveling kit enough for 35s on a JK?

A 2-inch leveling kit helps, but most owners still need wheel and bump stop changes for 35s.
